I have an AverTv-Stereo card that worked great with virtualdub until this afternoon. Im running the digital cable through the s-video and regular cable through coaxial output. When recording with VDub, As of today I get matrix style lines vertical through my picture. But when I run the composite through the cable box it disappears. Good it be the signal today or what could it be. PowerVCR doesn't detect any lines on the other hand though.

The coaxial connection is the lowest quality connection you can use .The s-video is the best then the composite . So if you are using the coaxial connection it could be you need to use the composite or s-video and your quality should be better

Incorrect. From worst to best:
RF
Composite (that's a single video jack)
S-Video
Component (that's the Y,Cb,Cr three video jack thing)
People often get composite and component confused. As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."
