  1. have posted this before, but no replies, please help

    have captured a music video from vhs to my hard drive but, the audio track is not very good quality (this is how it was on vhs) so i want to replace the audio track from audio cd. ( they mimed on the video so the cd Track should match up)

    Whats the best way to do this? which software is the easiest for a newbie to use?

    Any info would be greatfully appreciated.

    Thanks.

  2. You don't say so I will asuume you have the video in avi format. I would do this:

    You will need some software that will 'rip' the required track from your CD into a wav file. 'fraid I can't tell you what to use but go to a site like download.com and search, there are many proggys for this.
    Open avi file in virtualdub
    Select Video->direct stream copy
    Select Audio->wav Audio, select your CD track wav file
    Select file->Save avi

    This will save a copy of your avi with the audio replaced by the track from the CD.

    Getting the two in sync, well thats another matter altogether!!!

  4. The only way I can think of is to do it manually. This is OK (ish) if the two run at the same speed but will be a nightmare otherwise. In the 1st case, virtualdub will allow you to specify a start offset for the audio. Select Audio->Interleaving and set the Audio skew value to whatever is needed. Then save your avi as I previously described. If the audio and video run at different rates then you are on your own as far as my help is concerned, sorry

  6. what I can suggest is that you load the avi into virtual dub
    click on the END button to go directly to the end of the video

    write down the total time and then get the time of the audio file as well

    I think there is a guide for synching
    and I just checked to make sure and there is

    click on EDIT on right side and go to complete bottom of the guides page
    well not complete bottom but here is the heading

    "How to repair downloaded video clips or fix audio sync problems"

    that should help you some.

    enjoy!
