  3. Version 2.64 seemed totally flakey so I downloaded the old one 2.62- seems better but it says "Couldnt find appropriate video codec for dvsd" when i try to encode. It says that either on mpeg 1 or mpeg 2 encoding-go figure...

tmpgen works just fine- what the hell does this mean?

I've had so much trouble with this crap encoder...

    Thnx

  4. Crap encoder? CCE is the best you can get for DVD encoding. If you're doing SVCD, though, you're better off with TMPGEnc. Otherwise, I recommend CCE 2.5 over the newer ones.

CCE does have alot of compatibility issues but each one has a very simple and noncompromising solution. There are numerous faqs on cce, most notably the one contained in the DVD2SVCD FAQ. If you know how to get around these issues than cce is just as stable as TMPGenc. Also you are using a pirated version of cce so you really can't complain.
