AVStoDVD should be the simplest way for you.

However if you want help with hcbatchgui let me know. I've written a pretty detailed guide on how to use it here.
    https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/277171-HCbatchGUI-user-guide-~-Batch-process-video-and-audio

I haven't updated it since I updated the program to include a simple/advanced user interface though. That guide shows how to use the advanced user interface. If you can't figure it out just post back with what problems you are having and I'll do my best to help.

    edit
I just reread your first post. I didn't realize you are trying to convert m2ts to mpeg. I'm not quite sure how to go about doing that. I know I don't have any presets for that in hcbatchgui. AVStoDVD should handle it though. I'll try to find out how to handle it with hcbatchgui and post back.

AVStoDVD is just a front end. it uses HCEnc when you set it up properly to do the encodes.
MultiAVCHD also will take your m2ts file and convert it to SD DVD using HCEnc..again..if you set it up to use HCEnc.

Did you install the avisynth version that was included in the avs2dvd install package?

Here is the way to convert m2ts manually using HCenc.

    1. Download dgavcdec
    2. Open your m2ts in dgavcindex , click the audio menu and select the audio you want to demux, then click file and save project (which makes a dga file).
    3. Create an avisynth script for your newly created dga file like so
    Code:
LoadPlugin("C:\Path to where you downloaded dgavcdec\DGAVCDecode.dll")
AvcSource("C:\Path to where you saved the dga file that DGAVCindex created\Your M2TS File.dga")
Lanczos4Resize(720,480) #Change the 480 to 576 if you are in a PAL country
Save the above text in notepad changing the paths as appropriate. Name this whatever you want with an .avs extension.
    4. Open the newly created avs in HCenc and encode away!

When done use the ac3 files demuxed in step 2 and your newly created m2v file made by hcenc to author your dvd using your favorite authoring software like dvdauthorgui or guifordvdauthor.

If you get that error msg, there's surely something you did not install. Pleas make sure that:

    1. You have dowloaded AVStoDVD installer version
    2. You have installed all the software included in the installer (AviSynth, Haali Media Splitter)
    3. You have good directshow codecs installed (like ffdshow)

    Let me know

  12. Ok, let's try to:

    1. Go to 'Preferences'/'Encoding' and select 'DirectShowSource' as 'AVS Source Filter'
    2. Start a new project
    3. Add your clip
    4. Click on 'Preview Clip'

    Any errors?
