  1. hi! please could you tell me what i need to play avi files on my pc? i have quicktime and windows media player but they both mention "no combination of filters could be found to render the stream". i can't encode the avi file to mpeg because of this. please help me in anyway. thanx

  2. maybe your files are corrupt or it has been miss named proporly. try downloading it again and hummmm

    Oh! does it play anywhere else? like on a friends comp. if it does then yea your back to square one of your problem. if that is so then try reinsalling your player software.

  3. The most probable thing is you have a DivX movie or other type of avi that needs a codec not included in Windows Media Player.

    If you think it is DivX then go to the "Play" section here to read up.

  4. Your problem is most likely a missing Video Codec.

    Make sure you have the latest

    DivX
    Huffyuv

    ...it is most likely encoded with DivX.

    As a side note, I wouldn't bother trying to play AVIs through Windows Media Player. For some reason Media Player chokes on large AVIs.

    You should be able to load the AVI in VirtualDub and view the File Information there. It should show the Codec used even if it can't play (because you don't have the Codec installed).
