  1. Hello. I wanted to know when encoding a avi file (22 minutes) to mpeg2 i sometimes see the option of inverse telecine checked. My question is, will this improve the quality of the mpeg2? Should i uncheck the option? thank.

This usually helps if you're converting a Blockbuster video that was originally 24 fps, then telecined to 29.97 for home video use.
Basically, inverse telecine gets it back to 24 fps (what the original video was made for) and removes the extra frames that the 29.97 fps gives you.
Note: 1 don't use it for captured broadcast shows
2 if you're capturing, it should be with ???x480 (to get both fields)
3 you shouldn't have to deinterlace when using inverse telecine
Try it out for yourself. There's lots more on the subject, just do a search, but this is the basics, from a basic idiot.
    Good luck !!!!!
