I've read several posts here about problems with CCE but non like the one I have with CCE 2.64.
It's causing my PC to reboot at various stages of encoding. Sometimes after just a few seconds, sometimes after several minutes.
My source is DV AVI and I'm trying to encode to MPEG2 at DVD spec.
I had no problems using it for the first few days then the problems began for no obvious reason.
I've tried re-installing CCE, a different DV codec and changed various settings within CCE with no luck.
Anyone else had this problem and solved it ?

  2. hardware conflict? U have SSE, MMX-2, 3DNOW, on your processor? Free up your memory, close everything else using CTRL-ALT-DEL, and open the taskbar menu, if you'd like to permanently remove any startup items try removing objects from the startup folder, if you don't find what you want there try START- RUN- type: MSCONFIG, and move to the startup tab, remove what you don't want to startup, keep in mind there are essentially 5 things you need to start up when starting the computer, know what you are doing before removing each, btw, what version windows are you running? CCE has sucked with my ME , blah- later

    Thanks for the reply Uplate22.
I'm running Windows 98SE with a Duron 750 and a VIA chipset (your probably gonna tell me it's the VIA chipset and I wouldn't be surprised as I've had problems with the onboard sound chip in the past.)
I'll give your suggestion a bash but it sounds, from what I've read, that CCE is riddled with flaws which is a shame as it's such a good encoder in terms of speed and quality.
I've never had this trouble with any other encoders I've tried.

    Problem solved !
I set my BIOS to Optimized Defaults as suggested elswhere in the forum and this fixed it. I noticed it had changed my memory speed from 133mhz to 100mhz so changed it back to 133mhz and CCE locked up again.
Changed it back to 100mhz and it now encodes 100% every time.

  5. excellent scobo, I forgot to consider sending you to the link for optimizing your computer to edit/encode non-linear video. I don't know what the link is but it is somewhere on this board. I'm pretty sure that setting that you used is part of the guides instructions, as well as many other things that help signifinitely, later-
