I know I'll be flamed for even mentioning Ligos but at least the CCE and tmpgenc camps will be able to agree they hate me! - lol. I love Xmpeg 4.5 and use it alot for Dvd 2 Divx/Xvid conversion. By keeping everything in the YUV colorspace (only on those conversions) it is fast! I read good things about the latest Ligos Premiere plugin on this forum the other day so I decided to use Xmpeg and the Lsx plugin to encode Behind Enemy Lines. You have to have the xmpeg dvd.mism plugin to read the ifo file but its available. You also have to have the latest lsx plugin and place it in the proper subdirectory and rename the extension to .xmpeg. I used the svcd std setting with the quality indicator on 16. I had to set the frames to 24 instead of 23.976 or it wouldn't proceed but the fps of encoding was around 14. The bottomline is the output was very good quality and the time to encode was very good! Not saying its the best but it is a fast alternative to cce or tmpgenc. I'll have to give it a go with vcd settings or maybe use the panasonic plugin with Xmpeg.

fast alternative to CCE?
14fps?
I encode 1.4x realtime, which would be like 45fps almost.
And the quality is unbeatable, LSX is fast but quality is bad.
besides CCE is still faster so why bother with lSX: -
Framerates don't mean anything unless you can also take into account what CPU is used for encoding. Perhaps you should both fill out the specs of your computers in your profiles to allow such a comparison.

Fakesky:
How are you getting the vobs into CCE? vfapi or avisynth? I've not found a frameserving method that I consider fast although some people apparently have good results with CCE2.5 and avisynth. How do you do it? -
Just figured out I can use the CCE plugin just as the lsx plugin - duh! I'll give it a go and check speed/performance.

dvd2svcd does a fine job at getting vobs to CCE
I have a 1400 Athlon, 256 ddr and ata100 -
checked out dvd2svcd and it automates using avisynth to frameserve to CCE. I have to use 2.6 due to XP. Anyway, glad your able to encode so fast.
