Ok, I have d/l divx movies and there are all in a widescreen format. When I go to encode them to VCD format in TMPGEnc, what source aspect ratio should I be using? I normally use the 16:9 display but I find that the movies displayed on my 4:3 television is a bit stretched vertically. I did some experiments and I found the following infomation for the following settings
1:1 VGA - the picture is less vertical than the 16:9 display and I couldn't tell if the picture was squished or not.
16:9 NTSC (525 lines) - For some reason, I found that this was even less vertical than the 1:1 VGA setting (by this I mean the black bars at the top and bottom were bigger). I was pretty sure the picture was being squished vertically.
4:3 - I don't think I tried this yet but I think it would make the picture full screen which would definitly stretch the picture
16:9 - This setting produced the largest vertically widescreen format that I tried. As I said, this setting stretched the picture vertically.
2.11:1 - I'm not sure what and when this setting is supposed to be used. This setting produced a widescreen format and the picture was more vertical than the 1:1 setting but less vertical than the 16:9 setting. I found that this setting looked the best for a widescreen picture.
There is also the setting Full Screen, Full Screen(keep aspect ratio) and Full Screen(keep aspect ratio 2) but I think that all this setting didn't affect the picture layout.
So basically I'm asking which setting do most people use and which one do you guys think is the best for widescreen divx movies?

The Full Screen settings are basicly to set the aspect ratio when the file is being played by media player.
Keep Aspect Ratio = shows the movie in Wide Screen in window playback
Keep Aspect Ratio 2 = maintains the aspect ratio even in fulll screen playEmail me for faster replies!

For DivX, Source aspect ratio should be 1:1 VGA, unless the DivX was created with a bad aspect ratio! If you want to see all the picture correctly, it is usually best to choose Full screen(keep aspect ratio).
