  1. I've run the auxsetup and selected the option to let you run the frame server, but it's still greyed out. Anyone know why?

There is no such program as audiosetup within VirtualDub.

Follow the guide here to get up and running

  3. I meant auxsetup.....

I've tried that guide but the 'start frame server' option is greyed out. I haven't got an avi as such to edit, just the one created by dvd2avi and vfapi. VDub won't open that.

You must actually have video loaded within VirtualDub to start frameserving!

I am guessing that VDub won't open your fake avi file because the frameserver proxy was "on" when you ran the little program to convert the .d2v file to a .avi.

Delete the fake .avi file you are trying to use, run proxyoff.reg then reconvert the .d2v file to a .avi. You can now run proxyon.reg and successfully load the avi file into VDub rady for frameserving.
