  1. im a total newbie to vcds but iv borrowed a few off friends can they in anyway infect or dirty your dvd player?
iv had my player for only about a month and its worked fine until recently when iv started playing alot of vcds...the discs seem to glitch
the dvds and vcds iv been using are clean and free of major scratches
so my dvd player might just have been dirtied somehow
what is the best way to clean your dvd player is there things available or do i have to take it to a professional??

    any help would be great

A DVD player is basicly a CDrom drive so any thing to clean a cd player should work.
That said.....A VCD is just a cd with different data on it...It will not "dirty" your player up. If there is dust or stuff on any cd it will get junk in the DVD drive or on the laser lens.

  3. Do retail DVDs still all play normally, and just the VCDs have problems, or do all movies (retail DVDs as well as VCDs) exhibit problems?

If just VCDs, is it some VCDs, or all VCDs?

If just some the VCDs are glitchy, are they on the same brand and type of media, and made using the same process as the VCDs that play well?
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

If you have any problems like that less than a month after owning ANYTHING, take it back to the store, while it is still under warranty. If it is only a minor problem not requiring any maintenance, fine. But if it is warranteed work required, at least you did not wait until it is too late. DVDs are not supposed to act up after a month out of the box, period.
    Hello.
