If I download a DivX movie that has been 'squashed' a bit (I think this means the aspect ratio is wrong?) as I encode it to VCD mpeg1 can this picture be sorted i.e stretched out slightly?

  2. Yes, done it many time.

TMPGEnc for instance and many other encoders have filters to resize video, not just crop it.

Aguillon - I already use Tmpgenc to encode - can you tell me what to do to resize? I have at least 3 movies I want on VCD that have been squashed and need stretched out a bit.

Load the avi and wav. Load the correct VCD template to fit the source framerate.

    Source aspect ratio 1:1(VGA
Video arrange method Custom size 352x240 (288)

Alter the second figure up or down and do a series of test encodes, preferably encoding a section that shows up correct aspect ratio (eg with something circular in it).
