DVD conversion hangs

Hello,

I have ripped a DVD using Smartripper 2.41 and Vidomi as well
as DVD2SVCD get stuck during conversion. Both seem to hang
in a loop, the HD still working, but the computer reacts unreasonably
slow, I can't even bring up the task manager under Win 2k.

I tried Vidomi (4.69) as well as DVD2SVCD 1.09b2, both show
exactly the same behavior and the same HD noise...
DVD2SVCD gets stuck in the DVD2AVI step.

Has anyone ever experienced such problems? Could the rip
process have failed?

May we assume that you have left it overnight to do it's thing? During the downmix audio and 48 > 44.1 conversion, it hogs the CPU and hard disk heavily. I only have a 1 GHZ Duron, and it looks like the system is hung (drive light is lit up, and system won't open any new windows. In DVD2SVCD, did you try to lower your priority levels?
