  1. I made a new GUI for ffmpeg encoder with additional features.
You can download the alpha version here. I appreciate your feedback while I finish testing and write the manual.

Do I need something extra when using the MPEG-1 codec when my source is a multiplexed .VOB file? The encoder doesnt start when I use such a source. However, when I use just the MPEG-2 video (.M2V) as the source, the encode is great.

Also, are there any suggestions as to how to make the MPEG-1 output to DVD spec? I thought it was the GOP size so I changed it to 13, to be well within the limit, but DVD Studio Pro ignores the MPEG-1 output from this proggie. How can I adjust the number of I, B and P frames in the GOP (if thats the issue)?

Also, how can I force constant bitrate encoding?

  7. Some questions to help me track the problem:

    - which error exactly do you get and when?
    - which version of AppleScript you installed?
    - where is the app and where is the file you're opening (give full path)

oh geez, i spoke too soon. now it opens great and everything, but once i start encoding i get an eroor in the terminal window:
    /Applications/ffmpegX/ffmpegX.appContents/Resources/ffmpeg: Command not found.
sorry for all the trouble, hope you can help, yet again!
im using applescript 1.8.3, and i still get the error when leaving settings to default. do you what this means or what i can do? thanks again.

  10. hum, looks like a slash is missing. Strange, as it works for other people. I will use // in next release. Right now you can solve by manually copying the command line in terminal (the first big paragraph in the Terminal window just after the line "welcome to Darwin", and adding a / in "ffmpegX.appContents/" so as it reads "ffmpegX.app/Contents/"

ok thanks yes, adding the slash fixes the problem. but a couple more questions about yer prog- how come when i choose to keep the framerate same as source, it still want to go 29.97->24.47, at least thats what it says in the terminal window? will this unsync my movie if i do this? would it be better to just automatically fill in 29.97 myself? please help me out, u have already been a huge help, im just trying to get more familiar with ffmpeg, divx encoding, etc. thanks alot!

  12. yes, best is to fill in the framerate yourself or to choose NTSC
