    I'm trying to convert the VOR files captured on a Panasonic VDT-D310 mini DVD cam to the DV format using ffmpegX on my 3.06 Imac.

    I've installed as per the details on the website including the three file installation.

    When run the VOR input file to DV conversion it fails immediately with this error message in the log file.

    Input #0, mpeg, from '/Users/X/Desktop/HouseDance2008_Original FIles/VR_MOVIE.VRO':
    Duration: 00:04:40.8, start: 0.262222, bitrate: 8179 kb/s
    Stream #0.0: Video: mpeg2video, 704x576, 25.00 fps
    Stream #0.1: Audio: ac3, 48000 Hz, stereo, 256 kb/s
    Output #0, dv, to '/Users/X/Desktop/HouseDance2008_Original FIles/VR_MOVIE.VRO.ff.dv':
    Stream #0.0: Video: dvvideo, 704x576, 25.00 fps, q=2-15, 940 kb/s
    Stream #0.1: Audio: pcm_s16le, 48000 Hz, stereo, 1536 kb/s
    Stream mapping:
    Stream #0.0 -> #0.0
    Stream #0.1 -> #0.1
    bench: utime=0.007s
    [dv @ 0x399490]Can't initialize DV format!
    Make sure that you supply exactly two streams:
    video: 25fps or 29.97fps, audio: 2ch/48Khz/PCM
    Could not write header for output file #0 (incorrect codec parameters ?)
    Encoding completed on Sat Nov 15 12:48:14 GMT 2008

    Can anyone point out my error or suggest any settings which they know work please, this has got me stumped.

    Many thanks..

    DV needs to be 720x576 (PAL), not 704x576. Change the target video size accordingly.

    Thanks Case..I bow to the power of the internet...I've got some audio-video sync issues but that could be down to me and not being used to the cam and switching it on and off in quick succession accidentally whilst recording. So I used Isquint to make an MPEG which seemed to fix the sync issue and then ffmpegX to convert that and did the editing in Imovie..came out ok. Will try some more short clips and see how that goes. But thanks again for the help.
