sound is gone after 10 minutes, what's wrong with the file?

Hi everyone

I got an avi file that is a dvd rip, my problem is when i play the file with the windows media player the sound is gone after 10 min or so, the file is complete and fine but the sound is gone, when i play the same file with the "the playa" I have no sound at all. Why is the sound gone after a while? Do I need a special codec?

already figured it out myslef, i needed the ac3 codec
