I doubt many people use the VCD player that comes with ATI's MMC 7.x software. However, it bugged me that I had a software VCD player that wouldn't play VCDs, so I just had to figure out how to make it work.

The ATI VCD player only plays single track, VCD 1.x disks. Here's how to make one:

1. Capture video to one or more MPEG-1 files using standard VCD specs.
2. Use VCDImagerGUI to create a single VCD1.1 bin file from the MPEG-1 files.
3. In Nero, open the Burn Image window and load the .bin file, NOT the .cue file.
4. Set the image type to Data Mode 2.
5. Burn the .bin file to a CDR.
6. Start the ATI MMC VCD Player.
7. Load the 1.x VCD, the player should start playing.

This process creates a single-track 1.x VCD with one or more .DAT files. The ATI MMC VCD player will not play multi-track 1.x VCDs

A single-track 1.x VCD may or may not be playable in your DVD player. My Pioneer DVD player would play a single track 1.x VCD if there was there was only one .DAT file. However, multiple tracks were needed to play a 1.x VCD with multiple .DAT files.
