I am about ready to burn my first VCD with Nero 5+. I have a question:

I have gone through all of the steps in the guide for burning with Nero and
I noticed that on the screen where you drag the files to be burned there
are some extra folders listed like CDI, EXT, MPEGAV, SEGMENT and VCD.

I have supposedly made VCD's with TMPGenc but so far they do not play
on any DVD players I have tried. The only thing on the VCD is the mpeg
    file.

My main question is: To be VCD compliant are these extra folders needed
or can you just have the mpeg file and nothing else.
Here is the link for Nero burning:

    http://www.vcdhelp.com/nero.htm

BTW: I have used this once as a test but I have no feedback as to whether
it worked or not. I noticed the mpegs were not in mpeg format but in
    DAT format.

    Thanks in Advance.

Yes, the other folders are needed. See http://users.evitech.fi/~arndb/project/htmlmain/node15.html for more detail as to the purpose of those other folders.
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

So any CD-R's I have with just mpegs on them will only play on PC's.
Well, I guess this is not too bad. At least I have something to watch
    on my PC.
Thanks for the website info and I do hope that the Nero burn I did a
couple days ago works. I should find out in a few days.

    Thanks again.
