I cant get Tmpgenc to accept the frameserv from VirtualDub.
I followed the Frameserv Guide to a T and all I get is Tmpgenc freeze up everytime, I have to "ctrl+alt+del" to get out. I even tried the "error msg" part of the guide and it still does the same thing.
I am using Windows 98, Tmpgenc 2.54a, VirtualDUB 1.4.8
Anyone who has expericed this problem or can fix this problem please post!
Thank you.

Get VirtualDub 1.4.9 and don't forget to use the AuxSetup to install the Handler!

I had the same problem, what seemed to fix it was increasing the priortiy of the AVI VFW compatibilty Reader from -2 to -1

I know this doesn't help you with your VDub problem, but I couldn't get any programs to accept VDub frameserved files for the life of me--I was using 1.4.9. I ended up switching to AVIsynth, and am glad I did--much faster, and you can do all of the same stuff--even use VDub's plugins!
If you can't get VDub to work, I would try AVIsynth.
and for some strange reason, I was eventually able to get things to work with the VDub frameserved files--after having changed nothingwhat are you askin' me for...
I'm an idiot! -
I updated to VirtualDub 1.4.10,installed the Tmpgenc *.vdr pluggin, and tried uping the VFAPI settings in Tmpgenc.
I still get the same problem Tmpgenc freezes everytime and wont frameserv. Is it because I used a HuffyUV codec or am I missing some files ? -
VirtualDub v1.4.10 has a known problem with FrameServing, that's why I specificly mentioned v1.4.9 as that one works, and don't forget to install the handler using the AuxSetup

Sefy,
I tried VirtualDub 1.4.9 and it still acts the same. I even tried 1.4.7 and it also acts the same. I then even tired Tmpgenc 2.51 - 2.54a and its the same.
Always freezes up "Not Responding" Like Tmpgenc doesnt want to frameserv. I cant even get Avisynth to work. I even read in the forums about msvcr70.dll and I put that in my system32 folder. I get the same problem. Ive done everything in the Frameserv Guide on this site even installed the vfapi plugin for tmpgenc to accept *.vdr files.
What am I doing wrong? If you are getting it to work what software you using and whats the setup cause I must be doing something wrong.
Thanks. -
I don't know if it's something you are doing wrong, but try following this:

As I use 98SE myself, i've positive it works on it.
To be on the safe side, download all programs, remove/delete what you have and try again, make sure you download everything!

Sefy,
I got it to work!
I d/l in installed DirectX 8.1, put msvcr70.dll in the system and sytem32 folder, Tmpgenc settings enviromental all to priority"0".
It works but now Tmpgenc is now very lagged to close and open.
Like it takes 2 minutes for it to close completly or open a new session.
Odd side effect BUT IT WORKS NOW!!!all thanks to trial and error.

simonko, you would have had it working long ago if you has simply changed the AVI VFW compatibilty Reader from -2 to -1. You wouldnt have had to mess around with all that other stuff. I had the EXACT same problem and doing what I told you to do fixed it like a charm.
-
yo simonko,I had the same problem and was about to throw my pc!!
installed handler, proxy on,msvcr70.dll installed, different versions of vdub and tmpg but still no go.even a fresh new os(win xp)
fiddleling aroung in the vfapi didn't work either untill i saw your settingset everything to zero.
and what happened:tmpg took my vdr!
thanks for the tip! -
