  1. I've been using TMPGEnc for a very long time and this is a first.

It quit loading any mpg2 files---even ones it created. I had many files from various sources, DVD rips, SVCDs, Captures, and all are now getting file unsupported error. I never had a problem before with files from any source. Did I somehow lose my plugins? Mpg1 files load perfectly.

After this happened I did manage to downloard a video plugin (m2v) and now the video portion loads fine, but audio does not. If someone knows of a layer2 audio plugin that would cure this let me know.

As a workaround, I demuxed the mpg I wished to use and then was able to load the video and audio separately (from m2v & mp2 files) with no problems. I don't like workarounds much. I like to know what went wrong.

I really don't consider myself a newbie at this, but maybe I'm missing some simple error....anyhow some suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm using TMPGEnc 2.54 plus BTW.

    (edited for typos)

The mpeg2 feature is disabled after a certain number of days. The alternatives are to pay for it, to look around for the patched version, or to get an early version (1.2a) where the mpeg2 feature does not timeout. 8)

or you could download a crack for the version of tmpgenc you have, so the mpeg 2 ability won't run out. but you could go to jail! its ilegal! :P

delete this key in the windows registry:
[hkey-classes-root\clsid\(1ABF72A3-8502-4EC4-A42A-Bce3755E0C70) and voila!, another 30 days. works with tmpg 2.5.4 only. might be a good idea to also back up your registry in case you **** it up.

  5. Thanks tenders, boss & banjazzer. I already have the mpg2 fix for all my versions of tmpgenc.

This is a different problem. It's affecting windows media player, ATI file player and Ulead studio. Powervcr2 is now my only programme that will play the files. TMPGEnc now will not load any mpg2 files at all even after demuxing.

    These errors occur:
In Windows Media Player...'No combination of filters could be found to render the stream'
    In ATI file player...'file unsupported'
In Ulead...program has performed illegal operation...etc. with vstudio causing invalid page fault in module sepa.dll

I'm almost at the awful point of re-installing my whole system.

A kid installed a programme called Star Wars Racer on my computer. I'm wondering if that had anything to do with it. It wouldn't run on his machine and maybe screwed up mine.

Try reloading directx. I had the same problem awhile back. One of three drivers is out of whack - your sound, your video or you directx.

  7. That editing of the reg is tricky, I f- up my pc once doing that.

I saved a copy on CD of Tempgenc and every month I delete tempgenc and reinstall it for another 30 days...

Found this in 2sec using the search function on this site. Top of page, says 'Search'

    Just do this:

copy the above text to notepad and save the file as
    TMPEG_RESET.reg

Then Double-clickit to get more SVCD encoding time.

Check Option, Environmental setting, VFAPI Plug-in, m2v.vfp and/or direct show multimedia file reader and make sure its loaded and you could try to raise the priority. It needs to be in same directory with TMPGEnc

  12. Well, it turns out thegig was right---thanx. Directx was corrupted.

Directx was overwritten by that Star Wars game I mentioned. I ousted that idiot game and re-installed directx 8.1 and all works as usual again.

    Thanx for everyone's help.
