Hi there chaps,
Can someone give me a bit of advise.
After reading the compatibility information on the DAV-S300, it seems clear it is a little on the fussy side when it comes to VCDs on CD-R.
The popular opinion is that the Vivastar brand should work no problems.
I can't get them to work.
Burning standard VCD format using NERO 5.5 at both 4 speed and 2 speed (don't know if that should make a difference), but I'm still getting the message "NO DISK", when I bung them in the drive.
CD-RW work no problems. What am I doing wrong...??

You're doing nothing wrong. I have successfully got a few CD-R brands to work but they are flaky at best. (Vivastar included)
Get a decent spindle of high quality CD-RWs (Ricoh, Sony etc) and use those instead.
