  1. Is there a way to create VCD's or SVCD's with Dolby Digital sound?? I know in DVD2AVI, there is an option for Dolby Digital. I have that checked, but every VCD I've ever created comes out Pro Logic, not Dolby Digital. Is there something I'm doing wrong or is it not possible??

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Matt

If you want to keep the AC3 audio, select in dvd2avi demux instead of decode.
VCD and SVCD do not support Dolby Digital audio.

  3. Sorry for sounding like an idiot, but what is the difference between demux and decode??

Does anything support Dolby Digital or DTS?

"decode" is the option to convert the *.ac3 to *.wav (usually stereo).
"demux" splits the audio from the video keeping the source format.
VCD and SVCD support MPEG audio only (but not Layer-3). Check the "what is..." section.

So am I correct in saying there is no point in demuxing it because you are not going to be able to create a Dolby Digital SVCD anyway.

Yes and no. You can not create a SVCD with Dolby Digital audio, that is correct. I use to demux with dvd2avi anyway, because I use a different DolbyDigital decoder (Azid). And if you are going to create DVD with DD or DTS sound, just demux.

    Great That explains a lot.

I am thinking of buying a DVD Burner anyway. Mind you I have no idea what to buy.

No idea. I don't even think about it, because I don't have the money to buy a dvd burner (and the quite expensive media). Also I wont buy a dvd burner until there will be a real standard.
