nero 5.5 is superior for everything.

with the exception of disc@once on-the-fly audio cd copies. it does not support this yet.. for that, i keep ezcd 3.5c around.

i have tried v4+ but the cd rom/r/w suppor is horrible, and it misreports drives' capabilities
    THIS IS HARDCORE

I upgraded to EZ CD 4.05 and lost support for my burner.

I would highly recomind Nero. It fully supports 700meg CD's and it has tons more burning modes. It does SVCD>

Also, you can update within 5.0 and get new features.

Nero also does Overburn and with the click of a button, disregards (S)VCD standards

  4. The important point when converting your AVI to MPEG1 with TMPGEnc is to LOAD the correct encoding format. After choosing your video source etc... in TMPGEnc click the Load button in the bottom right corner. Select VideoCD(NTSC) if you want to play it on a TV in North America or you can choose one of the other formats available in that section.

Regarding Nero and EZ CD, they both work good. I've got both and prefer EZ CD since it gives me more control. Nero is best for creating a quick menu and getting your video on a disc. The multiple menus in EZ CD along with the "first play" feature can give you a professional looking VCD if you're willing to create your own own graphics.

Adaptec was so good until Roxio bought them.

    DirectCD was always crap.
