  1. Has anyboby backed up VANILLA SKY.
I have tried every ripper.Smarrt and DVD Decrypter.
Smart ripper just came up with errors and stopped.
Decrypter did it but the files would not play.Something about a wrong region for player(this was from the plyer from inside IFO editor)

Does the film have the new region protection. If so can you get around this???????

  2. I used DVD2SVCD and made a 3 CD svcd backup of this movie. turned out very nice. DVD2SVCD uses internal routines or you can have it use vstrip to rip the DVD.

  3. I've had the exact same problem with this movie. I made a posting farther down the list. Here is what I stated:

get the following message when I rip Vanillla Skky:

"This player is incompatible with the region marking of this disc."

I ripped the disc with SmartRipper. I split the disc using IFOedit. Re-did the chapters, then grabbed VTS sectors. When I preview the movie, the afore mentioned error comes up on a blue screen.

1- The player is set for Region1.
2- The disc is region 1.
3- I've ripped several different movies, but never have seen this message.
4- I can watch the movie from my hard drive using Windows Media Player using the VOB files, BUT PowerDVD displays the error message.

Here is what I discovered on the forums over at DVD Decrypter. It is tied into something called "RCE". DVD Decrypter has the ability to patch the file in the ifo that is creating this problem. After I patched the file, I was able to see the movie through PowerDVD and IFOedit, (which I couldn't do before the patch.) I'm now getting a terminated error when I try to record using RecordNow. My next venture is to try and record using Nero. Any more suggestions would be great!

  5. I actually ripped the DVD fine with DVD Decrypter, and can play the VOBs fine with PowerDVD, but once i make a .d2v file using DVD2AVI so that I can transcode it using TMPGenc, TMPGenc just sits there and won't process any frames. Who knows. I used the previous version of DVD Decrypter btw.
