Before going off and doing research on cap cards, etc I thought I'd pose this question:
I've done a little experimenting on using my Sony DV Handycam as a bridge for capping LD's. Now, it seems to come in okay, but I'm getting a lot of "blurring" of the picture on the horizontal plane, making these caps no better than VHS tape. I'm pretty sure that this is being caused by the cam taking in the 560x480(?) LD res and stretching it to 720x480 in it's output to the IEEE firewire.
I've tried using Premier, PowerVCR, VirtualDub all with similar results.
The only available cap device has been the MSDV driver.
Is there any ways to get a cam to output to a custom res? Is there a different driver I can get for the DV firewire capture device?
My computer is running an AMD Athlon 1700+, 512mb DDR, IEEE 1394 firewire card.
