I have the old Apex 600A with the region hack and up till now its been great.
However i have started making SVCD's and basically it just wont have it. When i put the cd in it sits there for a while, has a little think, then says its a vcd. I press play and bugger all happens.
I know its becuase its encoded as svcd as vcds that i have made work great.
I have heard that there is an update that you can get so that it can play svcd's, but A)i dont know where to get it, and b)I dont want to lose the multi region hack.
Does anyone know where i can get hold of the update, and whether it will stop me being able to watch multi region movies?
Any help would be appreciated..

Before changing your firmware etc. you should make sure that your SVCD is really 100% OK. The problems could be the colour layer of the media you made it on, to the actually burning of the SVCD stream.
If you want to go ahead with firmware updates I would recommend this website:

depending on how old your 600A is, you might even consider installing the chips that others recommended - best info's for here (including complete drive changes)

Hope this info helped.
