It's time for an english lesson. I see this all the time and thought I would let everyone know the proper usage of apostrophes as they relate to our favorite hobby.
Apostrophes are used in contractions (like it's for it is) and to show posession (John's computer).
RIGHT:
I love DVDs (or CDs, SVCDs, etc)
I have many DVDs
The DVD's running time
Spread the usage of proper punctuation!

Ohh Mojo (notice proper names should be capitalized, even if they are just Forum handles, hehe). You had better break out a case of aspirin if you let the grammatical and syntax errors on this board give you a headache. Because the majority of the people here play fast and loose with proper English.

It's time for an English lesson or It's time for an english lesson
However since this is an International site, with many visitors who use English as a second language.
Dis is going to go unnotist Da -
Talk proper like wot we do mojo.
Nobody really cares about the odd gramatical error or two. -
OR you could use "the DVDs' running times" to mean the MUTIPLE DVDs have MUTIPLE running times. Just for you Mojo, here are some qoutes from everybody's favorite little green man: Wars not make one great, Size matters not. Look at me. Judge me by my size, do you?

I've been born and razed in the United States, and I butcher the language more and more everyday! I believe it's the American way!
-
So TGPO, you were born and destroyed to the ground in the United States? If that is what you meant to say, it is a little confusing. You have butchered the English so much, you cannot communicate to everyone what you mean to say. Anyway, I was born and raised in the U.S. as well, and my profession teaches me, along other things, to have "Excellence in all we do." So I am not in a position to do what you want to do this language, nor do I have an inkling to do so. Be good!

LETS STAIGHTEN ONE THING UP: I SPEAK AMERICAN NOT ENGLISH, THERE IS A DIFFERENCE (tpgo knows what I'm talking about
)
There is such a thing as proper "english," but no such thing as proper American!!!
AND IF YOU DISAGREE THAN I WILL SUE YOU UNTIL YOU HAVE TO LIVE IN A BOX BECAUSE THAT IS AMERICAN TOO!!!!!!!!!

I speak how I speak. Sometimes my southern accent is there, sometimes not. I use words in accordance to how I believe they should be placed together. The English language is open to adaptation, and I take my fair share.

I learned English by reading printed books in English and surely English-language web forums are not that good for improving grammar and expanding vocabulary.
