    i got this video titled XXX.XXX.DVDRip.XviD-DMT
    the files are titled CD1\dmt-XXX-cd1.r00
    CD1\dmt-XXX-cd1.r01
    and so on.

    im able to play the file in media player but with no sound.
    what is ithe codec i need to get?


    is there any resource someone could point me toward to find
    out what codecs i need by looking at the title format on the files?
    im not looking to be spoon fed answers, i just cant figure out where to look to find the ones i need.

    Get GSpot and have it 'render' the file. It will fail in this case since you are missing an audio codec, but GSpot will tell you what you need.

    Chances are the missing codec is for AC3 audio.

    The files you have listed are archive files in the rar format. Use WinRar to extract the content and you will probably have an avi file. It is much easier to wrk with that.
