What about copying the MPEG-2 file to your HD? Is that clear enough for you?

in which player do you have this problems ?
i guess it is windows media player!
check the Tools page in vcdhelp and download the svcd codec -
I have MPEG2 files that I use just before I burn an SVCD and they play just fine in WMP.. but when I try to take a file from an SVCD it doesnt work.
I have Power DVD installed so I shouldnt need the codec.. -
Try downloading the newest version of VCDgear. After extracting the MPEG-2 file to your harddrive run it through the error correction fucntion. Maybe there is something wrong with the file?

Thanks.. VCDGear did the trick.. odd.. it said something about a Pack error.
The video was encoded in TMPGEnc and then burnt to SVCD using Nero, so who knows what happened to the MPG file.. -
Hi
I have a simialar problem.
When ripping a DVD and then converting to SVCD and splitting I can play the MPEG file on the PC but as soon as I burn it to the disc it becomes unplayable on the PC BUT will play on my standalone DVD player?
If I try to copy the MPEG 2 file back from the CD I get ' illegal dos function' or something. If I try and play it in Power DVD it get a not suported format.
Any ideas? -
The problem that you are having is that all MPEG2 files are reformatted when they are burned on to a SVCD. It is still a MPEG2 but not recognized as such by Windows Media Player.
To fix it you need to do a simple multiplex with the SVCD file as the video and audio source. The output will be a MPEG2 formatted for your PC.
