  1. All,

I have downloaded a Avi - Divx file: Knights Tale, but it is a full screen movie (I guess stretched since the image quality is poor).

I would like to resize it back to wide screen, but I wonder if this is possible.

Can someone inform me whether this is possible?

I guess when you start with a bad quality movie, you are stuck with it....

  2. hello,

you can do it by using tmpg, go into and change the 4.3 to 16*9

  3. You cannot convert a fullscreen back to widescreen without significant distortion or cropping. You certainly won't recover any of what was cut to make it fullscreen, so there's really no point to making it widescreen again.

If the original file looks good on the computer, you might try the Video Arrange selection on the Advanced tab of TMPGenc. I have had a number of cases where the movie is encoded in a smaller frame size and if I maintain that size, it is much clearer on the TV. Select the Arrange method of "center custom size" and set it to the frame size of the source. Then go to Clip box and mask the edges that don't need encoding.

The final result won't fill the screen, but it may be a lot better to watch!
