My question is if there is any software that will capture directly to mpeg 2 in real time during capture with very little to no frame loss using the hollywood dv bridge with firewire?
just seems to take too long to capture to avi and then to encode each avi (4gb) and then join the mpegs with tmpgenc.
Thanks in advance

try "mediocampegRT". I don't remember who makes it, but look for it on the web.
Also try Ulead's DVD Workshop. It has a capturing module which compress realtime to mpeg 1 and 2.In this industry, Sadly, The future was yesterday.
