  2. you have to capture at at least 480x480 (480x576) mpg2, at 8000 to 10,000 video bitrate, 48k 224 audio,,, and then transcode to svcd or dvd compliant vob.

  3. What is your source? Garbage in - garbage out. DVD's are made from a digital uncompressed copy from the movie studio, something that non of us can get our hands on! Over the air broadcasts have a maximum resolution of 640x480 under ideal conditions. Normally, they are less, like digital satellite that use 480x480 resolution for all their channels. 720x480 is only available from a DVD player or a digital tape like D2 of higher. So, don't expect DVD quality video from any other source.

  4. Hm, it always looked to me as if Satellite TV captures are simply outstanding. Having digital cable myself, I can see a significant difference.

  5. By satellite I mean DISH or DirecTV. If you have a DVB or a DCII receiver, and tune into the right feeds, then you can get a very nice signal.

  7. Uh, what you mean? Like capturing directly to MPEG2? There is no consumer processor known to man that can do that well enough in real-time. You have to capture to uncompressed format first for best quality.
