If I read correctly, I can use my cd-rom to play vcd and svcd movies, as long as I have a DVD software player. I have PowerDVD 3.0. Can someone briefly explain to me how to do this? I've downloaded an mpeg file and burned the cd with adaptec easy cd creator 5.0 platinum. The audio was file, but it gave me an error on the video. "Current display mode is not supported. PowerDVD does not support the current display mode. (DDraw Overlay mode is recommended)
Please lower the screen resolution and color depth, for example, 800 x 600 with 256 colors. Or you may adjust the refresh frequency, for example, to 75 Hz."
My resolution IS 800 x 600 and I'm using 256 color. I even changed my refresh rate to Optimal, still the same error. Please help if you can, thanks in advance, Jason.

Do you have Directx 8 installed? If not I would do that I seem to remeber that it can be solved by doing that.
Good luck
