Hi!
I have a doubt about how to burn a XVCD in Nero.
I have 2 files with these specifications:
*MPEG1 930 CBR video
*MPEG2 128 CBR audio mono
*46 min each
*360 MB each
When I try to burn them in Nero 5.5, it says there isn't enough space in CD (it reports the total time is 83 min). The sum of bytes is about 720MB, but the total time is about 95 min. If I burn just one of them, it's OK and my standalone DVD plays it well.
I can burn them in Nero 5.0 (it reports total time = 72min), but my DVD can't play it.
Does anybody know what is wrong?
Thanks in advance.

I think your problem is the following:Once Nero notices that your files are not within the specifications of normal VCD's + SVCD's it asks you if you want to continue - this is where Nero changes the format of normally writing 2324 byte per block back to the non standard of 2048 bytes per block. The way to compensate for this is using a larger capacity CD-R(W) i.e. 80min, +90min etc.

Just curious... why go back to NERO 5.0, when 5.5 works?
I can usually burn SeVCD's as "Standard" with no problems in 5.5, so long as the resolution is correct... -
That's the problem!
Nero 5.5 doesn't work in that case.
It reports that total time is 82 min, but in fact, they have 720MB together. Nero 5.0 could burn, but my DVD couldn't play that CD. When I use just one of those files in Nero 5.5, it plays well in my DVD.
I hope you understand me even with my poor English.
Thanks a lot. -
If I understand correctly, you're saying the file size was reported one way in Windows, and another way when NERO goes to convert it to VCD format?
If this is what you mean, I've had this problem once as well, with a Cinemacraft-encoded video. It made a 600MB video file (supposedly), and I muxed it with a 92 MB audio file, but when it got to NERO, it ballooned to over 1 GB!
What's more, WHen I tried demuxing the MPEG, it also balloned and was corrupted. CCE stinks to high heaven in this regard, and I've never fugured out a solution for it.
What program(s) are you using to encode? -
I'm using TMPEGENC to encode AVIs files captured from VirtualDub. AVIs are captured with MJPEG codec and audio is uncompressed during capture. Unfortunatelly, i can't find CDR's with more than 80min here, in Brazil. Even if I could, I think my recorder couldt'n burn them.
I think many people can do what I'm trying. I'd like to discover what I'm doing wrong.
Thanks once again.
