  1. I want to create the images for use in a DVD menu within Photoshop, but I can't seem to find the info I need anywhere. Specifically, resolution limits (780 x 420, 640 x 480, etc.), file formats (.jpg, .tif, etc.), etc. Do I need to created variable images (one for when a menu item is highlighted, one for not highlighted, etc.). Other than that actually, I don't know what other info I need.

I want to create an image that will look nice (obviously) and that will not be cut off at the edges when displayed on my TV screen (16x9 HD).

Thanks for the help, Im a rookie.

To make active menus using photoshp you have do what is called a matte and fill or rollover. Most Dvd authoring systems that support Photoshop need two layers to be imported one which is your front page and the second layer which is your button highlight. So make up your menu page as you would like and have say an arrow for your start button. Create a new layer and fill it white go back to your first layer and using the magic wand tool highlight your arrow. Now back to the other layer and fill in your highlighted arrow with black. Save it as a PSD file and import it into your project. You should now be able to colour matte your DVD menu.Sorry for the long winded explaination.
