  1. I am just getting into the wonderful world of VCD and SVCD. I am creating my VCDs and SVCDs with Pinnacle express. The AVIs are created with Premiere. I am using Memorex 700M CD-Rs. I bought a new JVC DVD player (XV-S500BK). The video is good. The audio is good, except for a chirp that occurs about every five seconds. I have an old Sony DVD player that will play only VCD / CD-RW. The same movie recorded in that format does not chirp. Any ideas??? Thanks for the help!

Have you tried playing your encoded MPEG files on a computer software player to see if your "chirp" is present before burning? When I first started making SVCD's I had an audio chirp about every 5 seconds, but discovered the chirp was not present on either my AVI files or my encoded MPEG2 files. It was only present on the disks after burning. I slowed my burn speeds and the "chirps" disappeared.
I realize this may not be your problem at all, but since you have not received any replies after a couple of weeks I thought I would pass along my experience for what it is worth.
    Good luck!
