  1. (Hi - posting this in Newbie/General because 1 - I am new to conversion, and 2 - couldn't decide if this belonged in DVD to MKV or Advanced)

So, I was interested in m2ts because of my PS3. I'm looking at using an external USB hdd instead of streaming. So my understanding is that the best way to keep AC3 audio for the PS3 currently is via m2ts. Now, I am just starting out in any sort of conversion, def. a newbie, but it seems odd that my resulting m2ts files are consistently having audio sync issues of about 3 seconds. Here is the workflow I've been through:

Test Media = House, MD. Season 1 (which yes, I do physically own)
Used DVD Decrypter is IFO mode to rip each episode to own folder and single VOB file (no split)
Used DVD shrink to create a 6 minute clip file from Episode 19

I used MEgui to create both an mkv video file and a rawavc (264) video file and ac3 audio file
Using the muxer available thru MEgui, I muxed the mkv & ac3 file to an MKV and also muxed the 264 & ac3 file to an m2ts.
The MKV file played fine on my PC but the m2ts file did not. The audio was 3 seconds out of sync...it starts 3 seconds after the video.

Since the MKV file played fine on the PC, I tried the following:

    MKV2VOB m2ts file
    GotSent m2ts file
    tsmuxer m2ts file (from MKV)
tsmuxer m2ts file (from the RAW 264 & ac3 files)

In all these cases, the audio was 3 seconds off (delayed).

So, before I give up on m2ts format and just stick to MP4 with AAC audio instead of ac3, what else should I try?

  2. No suggestions? Should I ask to move this to one of the other areas?
