is there a way to buy the modem and steal the service like you can for cable? just wondering? thanks

I don't think so cause the modem has to talk to the server at ur companys ISP and it sends it's unquie information when you sign on.

I really doubt it. Most ISPs have to have the data from your modem everyday to validate it. If it doesnt validate, they shut it off, they did it accidentally to me a few times, the modem for some reason didnt respond to them and I was without a connecting for a day or so.
