    hi

    can it play pal? also can it do svcds?

    i have conflicting messages about it..so could somone plz answer?

    ok and how about PAL?

    when i tried the spiderman SVCD, all i got was the movie in black and white, continuously moving..

    The DV-440 will play SVCD, but only NTSC SVCD, not PAL. That's why you got the jump b&w images.

    I got this dvd player myself. Mainly, it handles NTSC well. However, it will play pal svcd. However, sicne pal has more lines of resolution, a 16:9 pal is played like a 4:3 and a 4:3 is full screened and u get some top and bottom cut off. On svcd, all it handles is ntsc. sucks as pal is mainly the standard and it is a hastle to convert pal svcds.

    Anyone using dvd-rs burned in the pioneer a04 dvd-rw drive in this player?
