I hope someone can help...
When I capture DV from my Sony TRV730 using premiere 6.0 I can't open the resulting AVI with TMPGenc and I get a
*** "File D:\xxx.avi" can not open, or unsupported. ***
and then when I open the same file in DVD workshop to try to use it to make a DVD MPEG2 file DVD Workshop tells me that the file is 9:26 long despite the fact that it is really 30 minutes long and plays fine in windows media player. Whenever I open a file in DVD workshop that was created with premiere it tells me that it is only 9:26 long even though it is always over that.
This problem just started showing up and I'm not sure why. Everything used to work before. Any idea what's wrong or how should diagnose this problem?
Peace,
Hish
p.s. I am specifying video for windows as the project type when premiere starts

to go from premiere to tmpegenc you need to frameserve, tmpegenc does not support dv avi. you,ll fing the info on how to do that here:
http://www.videotools.net/guides/guide_premiere_tmpgenc.php
hope that helps -
I use TMPGenc 12f and it definitely supports DV AVI. Use it all the time. I also frameserve from Premiere to TMPGenc but that is not required.
Maybe a TMPGenc expert can give you some hints. Mine has always worked but I have tried on other systems and gotten the unsupported message.
