hi, i am thinking about buying a dvd writer, will i lose dolby digital by doing a 1 to 1 copy? and will i lose dolby digital if the dvd is over 4.7 gig and i have to just rip the film out leaving out the extras?

if you do it right then you can select all audio tracks you want to keep, the answer is NO, if you want to keep them..
a 1-1 copy is almost never possible, DVD movie is dual layer (2 x 4.7GB), DVD-r is not (1 x 4.7GB).
Most of the time you will have to strip
read the guides, it will help you
