I am having a great time making VCDs and SVCDs movies while I wait for my HDTV hookup (this summer from Time Warner Cable).
In the meanwhile, I wanted to ask if there was certain settings I should be using while Ripping, Converting and/or burning to optimize the picture on my 47" 16:9 ratio TV (I noticed an interlace/non-interlaced option on the latest TMPGE software).
I am currently using a Pioneer 503 DVD player which seems to work pretty well with most movies. I don't have a Progressive scan DVD player yet, and am not sure if it matters for VCD/SVCD. I am slowly learning about all this stuff and am addicted!! Appreciate any info./thoughts.

PS Any thoughts on how a VHS copy of a DVD Rip would turn out? I am thinking of buying the ATI DV850 card for my own purposes but might record ripped DVDs on VHS (for friends) if that would look OK.
