Can anyone explain to me what this really is? AND Can you actually see the difference it it versus a regular DVD player.
I was in Best Buy yesterday and picked up the Samsung DVD-S221 and it plays everything fine. I noticed another Samsung Model with Progressive Scan and thought about purchasing it but was leary because i don't know (1) what it is and (2) if you can actually see the difference when you convert an avi to mpg or mpg to svcd video. Pls help me out with this question.
Thanks
Dave

Progressive scan sends a deinterlaced picture to a digital television. Meaning the high end HDTV's. These tv's have a built in deinterlacer but the ones in DVD players are usually better. The tv doesn't do any further processing and just displays the picture. If you don't have an HD tv or don't plan on getting one soon, a progessive scan player won't do anything for you,
