  1. Anyone know how to copy a 698MB avi movie file onto a 700MB CDR? (Actually the 80min CDR only lets you put 650MB onto the CDR) what do you do? Is there a way to break up the avi file? or a trick to get it to copy onto the CDR because it wont let me copy the file using Adaptec Direct CD do I have to spilt up the avi file if so how ?

Very frustrating because my 700mb (80min) CDR says it will take 700mb but really it will only accept 650mb once you use EasyCDCreator. So what do I do? I have no clue how to spilt up the avi file Any help would be appreciated.

  2. There must be something wrong with your media because 80 minutes CDR can take up to 702 MB.

It seems that you formatted your media using UDF standard... UDF has a different way to format the CD, to act like a huge diskette...

try reformatting your CD-RW as ISO9660.... it will not work as a diskette, without the drag and drop capabitilite, but I think you will be able to put the whole file in the CD...

Switch to aheads's Nero Burning Rom program. Some earlier versions of NEro won't support 700 meg media, and it's much more stable/reliable.

It is possible of course, that your CD-Burner doesn't support 700 media.. as mine won't support 800 meg media. Go to the manufacturers website, and see if they have a firmware update to let it support 700 meg CDs, (if Nero won't recognise your CDs as 700 megs either). You get can the demo from www.ahead.de - it's about a 12 meg download, but well worth it, as it can burn VCDs with simple menus, SVCDS, and about a billion other options.

  5. Thanks for all the great advice .... I wanted to let everyone know the trick that worked for me was using Nero! Easy CD Creator would not let me burn a 698mb file onto my 700mb CDR but Nero did! Thanks everyone for the excellent help!!
