  1. I'm using TMPGenc to encode some material I shot using my miniDV camcorder. The source material is all 4:3, however I will be watching it on a 16:9 TV.

Is it possible to have TMPGenc add two black bars on either side of the 4:3 material, allowing the material to be encoded as 16:9 so it won't be distorted when it is displayed on my TV ?

  2. you can re-encode by checking "Clip frame" from the Advanced tab in tmpenc.. double click on the line and you will have a full screen with X, Y, X1, Y1 settings.......
Testing is the best way of achieving this tweak......
Virtual dub can do that also I think......

    Hope it helps....

  3. Putting 120 black pixels on each side should give you the correct aspect ratio when viewing on a 16:9 screen.

    4:3 = 720x480
    16:9 = 960x480
