  1. OK I'm a Newbie!!! I know the vcd standard is 352x240, i was wondering if i capture at 640x240 and convert it to mpg and still be able to play in a dvdplayer at 640x240

    most likely, NO!

    * VCDs are 352x240 (or 352x480 for xVCD for ie)
    * SVCDs are 480x480 (or 352x480 for CVD or xSVCD for ie)

    Even if you were to burn such an odd resolution, chances are (in my
    experience) video will shift to left, w/ a small video window, but not in
    full screen mode. barely enjoyable to watch if it works at all.

  3. Depends on your player. 640x240 works perfectly fine on mine.
