  1. Ok,

I use Virutal Dub , I have Divx Pro 5.01 codecs installed on my system, which show up in Virtaul Dub only duirng CONVERSION of a video when u click on CAPTURE AVI and go there, the divx 5.01 codecs do not show up there.

However I have also installed Divx 3 codecs which show up and I am able to directly capture in that format .

Is it possible to capture directly using divx 5.01 codecs ?? Yes How ?? Which program ?

    Thanx u

I can capture to divx 5 but when i stop virtuadub it gives errors. I downloaded my version of virtuadub almost a year ago. Maybe trying the latest version will sort these divx 5 problems out.

  3. I recently formatted my comp (yesterday :))

i have the latest version of Virtual DUB

Previously I had Divx 5.01 (NOT PRO) , divx 3 and 4 installed. And mine also crashes , virtualdub also warns me about these.

"Says 1 or more version of these are found , and may cause it to crash , do not bother the author about this "

I have captured with DivX 5.01 and DivX MPEG-4 Low-Motion and I have not had any errors. But, I do have some frame droppage. Usually, one frame drops for every 6 or 7 captured. How can I decrease my frames from dropping? I still can create decent avi's but I want to get the maximum performance from a capture. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  6. I have a WinTV card also and I can capture directly to DivX 5.0.1 and 5.0.2

but I'm saying this with a recently new WinXP os. and latest vdub/drivers/divx codecs.

I use to run Vdub in W98 and it's pretty unstable.

you can try uninstalling all the Codecs, reinstalling the latest version and get the newest version of Vdub.

Sounds like you have a conflict between the two versions. I'm not positive, but I think they reccomend that you run only one version of the codec on your machine.

I tried capturing with divx 5.1 without any crashes, but I was losing a lot of frames.

Anyway, if you plan on editing the captures at all, you might want to consider mjpeg or huffyuv.
