HAS ANYBODY EVER TRIED SETTING BACK THE DATE ON THEIR INTERNAL CLOCK TO EXTEND AN EVALUATION PERIOD ON TRIAL SOFTWARE?

I am sure most of us have. I have done it so many times and I can tell you that it doesn't work 99% of times. That is a very old trick. You can only do it with early releases of SOME programs.
PhArAoHWinners never quit, quitters never win. Those who never win and never quit are idiots. -
Why don't you try it and see if it works.

BECAUSE I'M AT WORK, NOT AT HOME WHERE THE SOFTWARE IS!
JUST SAW THE IDEA ON ANOTHER BOARD AND WONDERED IF IT WORKS.
DID YOU LEARN SOME THINGS ALONG THE WAY OR DID YOU KNOW IT ALL FROM THE BEGINNING? -
Sure, I am learning all the time, but I find that I learn the most through trial and error. And 12 minutes is'nt very long to wait for a response, have you read the forum rules about bumping questions to the top of the queue.
P.S. Theres no need to shout.

What i'd like to know if how do these programs keep track of how long they've been installed
-
Many times they place entries in the registry to place the date that they were installed. Hunting them out is very hard if not impossible. They take great steps to stop you from finding them in the registry. They wont place them in the software's entries. They name them something totally weird usually. Or they place a file on the drive that does the same thing.
I have heard of programmers making progs that track EVERY single file and registry change that an installation does but they are spotty and difficult to find.
Software companies spend just as much time protecting the software as they do developing it. -
Oh yeah, I forgot about astalavista because they don't support mac users that much, but them I used PC's I was all over astalavista.....just make sure that you get that last 'a' in there. I tried to goto astalavist.com with my parents in the room....ouch.
