  1. I want the best possible quality VCD from my DV-AVI capture from firewire.

Obviously the BEST QUALITY settings mean the LONGEST to encode but I have time.:)

    What settings would you recommend.

The content of these videos are family events like XMAS and such so there is some fast motion and some slow.

What are the best possible settings for BEST QUALITY on a VCD.

    Thanks guys

  2. You best bet is SVCD. However, some settings will help with both. First, Noise reduction will get rid of some of the grain that usually accompanies a capture from video...if its real bad, double click on Noise Reduction and boost the range up. Now, if you use SVCD, run it at a high bit-rate... 2 Pass VBR or CQ above 85... with VCD, I think you can only go 1150 on thje BR. Also, the Ghost Reduction will clear up some of that motion blur you see when things are moving fast accross the screen. If its blurry, Sharpen Edge can sometime help.
That should get you started. Set the source range for a couple minuttes of video and play with the settings until you get it how you want and then run the whole clip through. Every clip is different, so there is no clear cut answer. Your best bet is to tweek the settings and get it the best you can.

  3. Thanks for that.

I CANT play SVCD so they have to be VCD.

I have checked both my DVD players and they CAN do XVCD to 2000KB
