  1. I have the .bin and .cue files and I have tried burning them in CDRWIN and Nero without luck.

In CDRWIN the SVCDs will burn but then they can't be played on any DVD player. Nero burns the disc but when finished burning it'll say there was an error and the buring process could not be completed. When I look at them in Windows Explorer it shows the CD as only having 2.16 MB of data on it yet the MPEG file on the CD shows as being 700MB. I have tried extracting the MPEG file and playing it with WMP but it won't work. I have tried converting them into ISOs and buring them or extracting the MPEG that way, again it won't work.

They only way I can watch the movies is if I use VLC Player and open either the .bin or .cue file. It'll play them just fine. As well, Nero and CDRWIN work fine in every other respect so I assume they're not the problem.

Am I missing some sort of codec or something? It's been a long time since I burned a SVCD and I have reformatted my machine several times since I last burned one.

As BIN/CUE they should have burned fine. That makes me think the files are corrupt or at least the BIN/CUE files are not properly made. I would extract them with ISOBuster and Extract the M2F2 MPEG frames, then reauthor to SVCD, if that's what you want to end up with. You could check what ISOBuster extracts to make sure it is OK before reauthoring. VCDEasy or VCDImager should be fine for the reauthor. I haven't done SVCDs for some time, so I make no guarantees.

First check your .bin file to make sure it is not corrupt. You could get Daemon Tools and mount the image first before spending time extracting or re-encoding.

If it mounts OK, it should burn. If not, then follow advice above to extract with IsoBuster

Also, you can try using VCDgear to extract the MPEG data from the disc image, and see if the resulting MPEG will play with no problems.

You can also try burning the original images with Imgburn, but I'd want to make sure the files weren't corrupt, as well.
